Somerset Academy hasn't had much luck against Doral Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Somerset Academy Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Doral Academy Firebirds at 3:30 p.m. The last four games Somerset Academy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Somerset Academy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Deerfield Beach. The one-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Liam DeCicco looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Somerset Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Mora, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Hector Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Doral Academy waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Cowboys 11-3. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Firebirds this season.
Gabriel Milano was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gavin Ruvalcaba, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
Doral Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Doral Academy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Somerset Academy, their record is now 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Somerset Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Doral Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Somerset Academy might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Doral Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Somerset Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
