Mary Persons has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Upson-Lee Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mary Persons is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Knights in Georgia (the Bulldogs are ranked 122nd, while the Knights are ranked 301st).
Last Tuesday, Mary Persons was able to grind out a solid win over the Red Devils, taking the game 52-42.
Mary Persons relied on the efforts of Anaja Lucear, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds, and Zaria Wilson, who scored 22 points along with seven steals. Mimi Mccord was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Upson-Lee fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Trojans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Trojans 68-62. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Upson-Lee in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost seven in a row.
Mary Persons pushed their record up to 19-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Upson-Lee, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
Mary Persons strolled past the Knights in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 60-45. Will Mary Persons repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
