Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Purvis walked away with it. They beat the Greene County Wildcats on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-6. Purvis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greene County only posted an OBP of .303.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Purvis, bringing their record up to 23-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Greene County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-13.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Purvis beat the Wildcats by a score of 11-1 on Monday.
