The Southeast Halifax Trojans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 66-55 win over Warren County. Given Southeast Halifax's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Warren County is ranked 449th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southeast Halifax had a senior duo take command as Trayvese Silver scored 13 points along with six steals and Kaizavion Lawrence scored 11 points along with four steals. The match was Silver's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rodney Johnson, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Warren County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Bolton. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points. Bolton scored a full 43.6% of Warren County's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tony Henderson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Southeast Halifax's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Warren County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast Halifax will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on SouthWest Edgecombe at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Warren County, they will head out on the road to face off against KIPP P at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. KIPP P is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
