Laton has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Legacy Christian Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Laton lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-36 walloping at the hands of Tranquillity. Laton has not had much luck with Tranquillity recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Johnathan Garcia put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Yann Jimenez, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Legacy Christian Academy, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They lost to Del Oro on the road by a decisive 52-36 margin last Monday.
Laton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Laton against Legacy Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 61-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
