The Vance Charter Knights waltzed into their match Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They snuck past North Johnston with a 40-35 win. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Vance Charter has scored all year.
It was another big night for Alyssa Bullock, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The matchup was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Reese, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Vance Charter pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for North Johnston, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vance Charter and Roxboro Community will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Roxboro Community will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Vance Charter is ranked 123rd). As for North Johnston, they will head out on the road to face off against Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th.
