Goose Creek typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Cane Bay proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over the Gators. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cane Bay.
Cane Bay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Hill, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hill has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anai Custodio, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Berkeley at home against the Knights on Friday as the squad secured a 55-27 victory. Given Berkeley's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Knights are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cane Bay's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Berkeley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
