Baseball Recap: Martin County Wins Going Away Against Master's Academy

While Martin County put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Master's Academy. The Tigers put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Cody Bennin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, John Thornton was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Paskoski, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Martin County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Master's Academy only posted a batting average of .105.

Martin County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Master's Academy, they dropped their record down to 15-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Martin County will square off against Treasure Coast at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Master's Academy, they will take on Keswick Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
