Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Forest

Forest won the last time they faced Belleview and things went their way on Thursday too. The Forest Wildcats were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Belleview Rattlers. Considering the Wildcats have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Makenna Boyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Forest got a massive performance out of Jaiden Prestipino, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Aurora Shifflett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belleview only posted a batting average of .091.

Forest's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Belleview, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forest will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Dunnellon at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Belleview also won't see the field for a while: their next game is against Mount Dora at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th.
