The Monterey Dores will venture away from home to square off against the Palma Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monterey has four straight wins, Palma has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Monterey made easy work of Watsonville and carried off an 11-5 victory. The Dores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Nicole Seal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Anaiyah Brown was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Deese, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Monterey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Palma suffered their closest loss since April 14, 2025 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Salinas by a score of 6-4.
Mulan Hunkin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season. Brynn Baxter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Monterey's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Palma, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Palma's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monterey has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. It's a different story for Palma, though, as they've only averaged .332. Will they be able to contain Monterey's hitters?
Everything went Monterey's way against Palma in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Monterey made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Dores have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chieftains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
