After flying high against the Pinon Eagles last Tuesday, the St. Michael Cardinals came back down to earth. St. Michael ended up on the wrong side of a tough 69-43 walloping at the hands of St. Johns on Monday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Michael in their matchups with St. Johns: they've now lost three in a row.
St. Johns was led to victory by Ellie Heap and Kayme Smith. Heap scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds, while Smith scored 15 points. The game was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Willis, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
St. Michael's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for St. Johns, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
St. Michael will head out on the road to face off against Tuba City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Johns, they will play host again and welcome Many Farms, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
