Softball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Has No Trouble Against Fleming

Eastern Montgomery won the last time they faced Fleming and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Colonels. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Mary Miller and Rena Chandler were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Miller pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Chandler pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Miller scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Chandler scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those stolen bases were Miller's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macie Akers, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Chelsie Kennedy was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Eastern Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Fleming, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Eastern Montgomery will face off against Parry McCluer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fleming, they are taking a road trip to face off against Floyd County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
