Mount Dora hasn't had much luck against Eustis recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Mount Dora is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They put the hurt on Lake Weir with a sharp 7-1 win. Mount Dora not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th (when they won 14-2).
KALEIGH CASEY was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. CASEY was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
CASEY wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was ADDISON GANUS, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave GANUS a new career-high.
Mount Dora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Weir only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Eustis came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Hurricanes. Considering the Panthers have won nine matches by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Carson Roden looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Adrianna Covino was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Mason, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Eustis' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Dora, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-12 record.
Mount Dora suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Eustis in their previous matchup on Wednesday. Can the Hurricanes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
