The Nettleton Tigers lost against the East Webster Wolverines back in September of 2014, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Nettleton fell 28-19 to East Webster. Despite 143 more yards than East Webster, Nettleton couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, Nettleton saw an underclassman step up: Braylen Williams rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 214 yards and a touchdown.
One reason for the win was East Webster's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Elijah O'Briant and his two sacks.
This is the second loss in a row for Nettleton and nudges their season record down to 6-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Choctaw County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 80% over those games). As for East Webster, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
