The ASPIRA Charter Wolves and the Christiana Vikings will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Monday.
After soaring to a 23-point victory in their last game, ASPIRA Charter came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of Freire Charter School Wilmington by a score of 71-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Wednesday (57), ASPIRA Charter still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, ASPIRA Charter got a solid performance out of Zy'aire Gibson, who scored 36 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 52.2% of ASPIRA Charter's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Pinder, who scored six points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Christiana scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Newark with points to spare, taking the game 79-62. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Christiana as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
ASPIRA Charter dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Christiana, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
