The Garfield Bulldogs will take on the Legacy Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Garfield comes in on seven and Legacy on nine.
Garfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Chatsworth. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 2nd.
Nadia Carrillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jade Ortega and Rosalie Aguilera did most of the damage at the plate: Ortega went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Aguilera went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Ortega a new career-high. Clara Villalpando was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Garfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive games.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Legacy came out on top against San Fernando by a score of 4-0.
Not much got past Savannah Medina, who gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep San Fernando off the board.
At the plate, Legacy let Katelen Pedroza and Brianna Gonzalez run wild. Pedroza went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Gonzalez went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Garfield pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Legacy, their record is now 22-7.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Garfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Garfield suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Legacy in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
