Baseball Recap: Freeport Comes Up Short

Freeport fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Walton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Caleb Hoogewerf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Freeport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Vogler, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Freeport's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Walton, their record now sits at 5-8-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Freeport beat the Braves by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
