Basketball Recap: Mccollum Sets Scoring Season-High Against Harlandale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McCollum). Everything went their way against the Harlandale Indians on Wednesday as the McCollum Cowboys made off with an 85-61 win. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 23 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Harlandale saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sadie Mancha dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. Mancha's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamila Sosa, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

The victory (which was McCollum's sixth in a row) raised their record to 28-3. As for Harlandale, their loss dropped their record down to 13-15.

The future could be bright for both McCollum and Harlandale: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. McCollum will try to hand Winn their 12th-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Harlandale will look to extend Southwest's four-game losing streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
