Lewistown is on a four-game streak of home losses, Stark County an 11-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Lewistown Indians will be home for the holidays to greet the Stark County Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Lewistown's 22-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Princeville by a score of 51-49. While losing is never fun, Lewistown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 427th, while Princeville is ranked 170th).
Lewistown's loss came about despite a quality game from Landry Smith, who scored 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Abby Wiegand, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Stark County was beaten by Midland 60-32 on Thursday.
Lewistown has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Stark County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
Everything came up roses for Lewistown against Stark County in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 62-32 win. Will Lewistown repeat their success, or does Stark County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
