Grand Island has gone 5-0 against Benson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Grand Island Islanders will head out on the road to challenge the Benson Bunnies at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Grand Island's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
Grand Island will head into Wednesday's contest out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Lincoln North Star and fell 87-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Islanders still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Grand Island got top-tier performance from Victor Fisher Jr., who went 12 for 23 on his way to 30 points and eight boards. Fisher Jr.'s evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Broxton Barrientos, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, Benson played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 64-40 to Creighton Prep. While losing is never fun, the Bunnies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Junior Jays are ranked tenth).
Grand Island will need focus on slowing down Antonio Carson Jr., one of several Benson players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 16 on his way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Goanar Bamach, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Benson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Grand Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Grand Island has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Benson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Grand Island strolled past Benson in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 68-51. Will Grand Island repeat their success, or does Benson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
