The Belvidere Bucs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 64-41 loss to Guilford might stick with them for a while. Belvidere lost against Guilford in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-48 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Belvidere lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Pierson. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The game was Pierson's 18th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Maggie Sternquist, who scored ten points.
Belvidere struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Belvidere's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-9. As for Guilford, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belvidere will challenge Freeport at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Guilford, they will head out on the road to face off against Rockford East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rockford East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 593rd, while Guilford is ranked 163rd).
