The Mohawk Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Minster Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mohawk is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Mohawk came out on top against Seneca East on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Warriors put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-1 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Aubrey Gottfried made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Katie Woodland was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Emily Brickner was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Mohawk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seneca East only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Minster fell victim to Marion Local and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flyers. The match marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.
Minster saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reece Albers, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Mohawk's record is now 15-4. As for Minster, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mohawk hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Minster struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mohawk suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Minster in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
