Basketball Game Preview: Baldwin Park Braves vs. Glenn Eagles

The Baldwin Park Braves will take on the Glenn Eagles in a holiday battle at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Baldwin Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Baldwin Park barely beat Pomona the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Braves claimed a resounding 57-23 victory over the Red Devils. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Baldwin Park had a senior duo take command as Eric Avila went 6-for-11 en route to 18 points in addition to six assists and three steals and Robert Gallardo posted 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Gallardo. Joseph Rojas was another key player, putting up eight points.

Baldwin Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pomona only posted two.

Meanwhile, Glenn unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They were beaten by Bell Gardens 68-39.

Baldwin Park is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points over those games. As for Glenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Baldwin Park came up short against Glenn when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 44-37. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
