It was a good run, but the Edgemont Moguls unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 52-44 to Hay Springs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Edgemont in their matchups with Hay Springs: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Edgemont saw an underclassman step up: Raelee Provorse went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Provorse has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Hollenbeck, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Hay Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Julia Russell out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Russell hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Gabby Twarling, who scored 20 points along with five steals.
Edgemont's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Hay Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hay Springs will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. They will take on Edgemont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edgemont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
