The Parkersburg Big Reds will face off against the Spring Valley Timberwolves at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkersburg is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Last Saturday, Parkersburg earned a 59-49 victory over the Flying Eagles. Given Parkersburg's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Flying Eagles are ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trinity Balog continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Parkersburg's points. Lauren Flanagan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Spring Valley has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were dealt a 60-29 loss at the hands of Blazer on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Spring Valley has scored all season.
Parkersburg is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Spring Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
Parkersburg came up short against the Timberwolves when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 58-49. Can Parkersburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
