After flying high against the Crosby Bulldogs last Friday, the Woodland Regional Hawks came back down to earth. Woodland Regional fell to Seymour 53-49. Woodland Regional was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Seymour apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Seymour's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jillian Keough, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine assists. Keough is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Skylar Barton was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Woodland Regional has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Seymour, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Naugatuck the next time they take the court. Seymour will host Naugatuck at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Woodland Regional will host them on Monday.
