The Marianapolis Prep Golden Knights will face off against the Forman Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Marianapolis Prep barely beat Varsity Opponent the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Knights were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Varsity Opponent on Wednesday. The Golden Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Nick Vanfleet tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Boris Valdez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Owen Richardson was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Marianapolis Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Forman made sure to put some runs up on the board against Storm King on Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 19-1 victory.
Tyler Tegnelia made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Tegnelia was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Forman got a massive performance out of Leo Carbonell, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jack Adams, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
Marianapolis Prep's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Forman, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
