While the Boone Grove Wolves couldn't quite beat the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 20-point defeat they were dealt last Saturday. Boone Grove fell just short of Kouts by a score of 59-56. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Boone Grove in their matchups with Kouts: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Stevens, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Rowland, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Boone Grove struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Boone Grove now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Kouts, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.
Boone Grove will head out on the road to square off against Wheeler at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kouts, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington Township at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Washington Township is ranked 353rd, while Kouts is ranked 339th).
