Coginchaug Regional and Hale Ray are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will host the Noises at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coginchaug Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Coginchaug Regional was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Middletown 4-3. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Blue Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Emily Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taryn Adams, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Coginchaug Regional hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Hale Ray came tearing into Monday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Noises have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Coginchaug Regional, Hale Ray also got a great game from a two-way player: Lily Jahne. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Jahne was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Maggie Janecek and Fenway Jankowski did most of the damage at the plate: Janecek went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Jankowski got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Faith Kalisz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Hale Ray pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Coginchaug Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Coginchaug Regional has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hale Ray struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Coginchaug Regional might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Hale Ray in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
