The Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders waltzed into Friday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Scotus 49-35. Given Grand Island Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Scotus is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grand Island Central Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryndal Moody, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The contest was Moody's third in a row with at least ten points. Carolyn Maser was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Grand Island Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Scotus, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand Island Central Catholic will take on Duchesne at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Duchesne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. As for Scotus, they will play host again and welcome St. Francis, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Francis is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
