Sun Valley moved up to 40 from 80 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Conference 8. The Spartans climbed the ranks as a result of topping Porter Ridge 42-28.
Sun Valley made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,547 from 2,732. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-28 victory over the Pirates last week.
Cuthbertson's dynamic duo of Steven Fusco and Ryan Kendall proved tough for Forest Hills to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fusco threw for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns and Kendall had 156 yards receiving. BJ Muckelvene helped Cuthbertson's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 52 yards.
The Cavaliers' dynamic duo of Fusco and Kendall proved to be unstoppable against the Yellowjackets, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Kendall was the best wideout in the league this week as Cuthbertson lost to Forest Hills.
He was 19-40 with 1 interception.
Albert Funderburk was a force in the backfield as Paul Hall's team beat Porter Ridge.
Funderburk provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Spartans bested Greg Neuendorf's team.
Fusco put up the best numbers through the air as David Johnson's team lost to John Lowery's team.
Funderburk was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 289 yards as Sun Valley fell to the Yellowjackets. Teammate Drew Swoope added to the ground attack by rushing for 34 yards.
Leading 3A Conference 8 in both passing and receiving yards, Cuthbertson's Fusco and Kendall have proven to be a lethal combination. Fusco has thrown for 670 yards this season, while Kendall, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 24 catches for 333 yards. Funderburk from the Spartans leads the league in rushing with 1,026 yards.
Sun Valley led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Pirates. Funderburk caught 1 pass for 48 yards during the win.
