Clarkston was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Troy. The Wolves came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 34 last week.
The win marks eighth in a row for the Lake Orion.
Athens's dynamic duo of Jake Nelson and Lucas Bezerra proved tough for Rochester to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Nelson threw for 102 yards and Bezerra had 41 yards receiving. Max Blank helped Athens' passing attack out by catching five balls for 37 yards.
Ian Eriksen was the most productive running back in Oakland - Red this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 295 yards as Clarkston fell to the Falcons. Teammate Ben Kaninsky added to the ground attack by rushing for 33 yards.
Athens' Nelson and Bezerra have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Nelson has thrown for 430 yards this season, while Bezerra, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 15 catches for 193 yards. Eriksen from Kurt Richardson's team leads the league in rushing with 1037 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Dragons and the Wolves. Lake Orion enters the game ranked 16th in the state, while Clarkston ranks 23rd.
