Jacob Lewis threw two touchdowns and ran for two more as
Bishop McGuinness (Oklahoma City, Okla.) upset Guthrie (Okla.) 32-0 on Saturday.
The Fighting Irish were up 20-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Lewis to
Danny Krenger in the first quarter.
Bishop McGuinness expanded its lead to 26 points entering the fourth quarter. BM scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by Lewis.
The loss came as a surprise for the Bluejays, which entered the game ranked No. 8 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Oklahoma, while the Oklahoma City school was ranked No. 9.
The Fighting Irish had given up an average of 7.7 points prior to the contest. Guthrie came in allowing just 11.5 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Guthrie, which notched a 42-35 victory over Deer Creek in its previous outing.
In a 5A District 2 game next week Bishop McGuinness (10-0) takes on Deer Creek, and Guthrie (8-1) will go up against Northwest Classen also in a 5A District 2 game.
