Colorado Academy has gone 7-0 against Prospect Ridge Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Last Tuesday, Colorado Academy beat D'Evelyn 60-49. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Jaguars are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colorado Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clyde Love led the charge by going 10 for 17 en route to 24 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was James Claypool, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Prospect Ridge Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 83-82 to Fort Lupton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (78), the Miners still had to take the loss.
Colorado Academy will need focus on slowing down Jackson Brandt, one of several Prospect Ridge Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Schilling, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and seven assists.
Even though they lost, Prospect Ridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.
Prospect Ridge Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Colorado Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Colorado Academy has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 29 boards per game. However, it's not like Prospect Ridge Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
