Football Recap: Sand Creek Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Centaurus last Friday, Sand Creek came back down to earth. The Scorpions had to suffer through a 56-13 loss at the hands of the Grand Junction Tigers. The Scorpions were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than 31 points in the nine matchups prior), but the Tigers' defense proved too tough.

When it comes to explaining why Sand Creek lost on Thursday, don't look at Ethan Mangrum. Despite the final result, he rushed for 140 yards and one score. Mangrum's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 18th straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Marcus Martinez went supernova For Grand Junction., rushing for 153 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Martinez a new career-high. Matthais Martinez-Santana also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sand Creek fell to 9-1. As for Grand Junction, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Sand Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grand Junction, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Highlands Ranch at 6:00 p.m. The Tigers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
