The Pisgah Bears can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They took down Tuscola 66-52. Given Pisgah's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Tuscola is ranked 571st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sawyer Belue was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with two steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Aaron Clark, who scored 13 points.
Tuscola's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremy Horton, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Ollis, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Pisgah's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-5. As for Tuscola, they dropped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight at home.
Pisgah will take on East Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Henderson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Tuscola, they will head out on the road to face off against Smoky Mountain at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Smoky Mountain has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 382 points over their last six games.
