Meanwhile, Southport won against Warren Central  on Thursday with ten  runs and they decided to stick to that  run total again  on Saturday. The Cardinals came out on top against Greenwood by a score of  10-5. The game was the first time the Cardinals have beaten the Woodmen on their field since May 1, 2021.
  Riley Matlock and  Nick Godsey did most of the damage at the plate:  Matlock  went 2-for-4 with three  runs and one  double, while  Godsey  got on base  in three of his five plate appearances with one  run and one  RBI. Those  three  runs gave  Matlock a new career-high.
 Southport is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Columbus East, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp  on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Columbus East has been swiping bases left and right this season,  having  averaged 3.4  stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southport struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 3.8  stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
