Even though the Sage Creek Bobcats have not done well against the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Sage Creek walked away with a 78-65 victory over Canyon Crest Academy. Given Sage Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Canyon Crest Academy is ranked 619th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Elijah Stephens, who dropped a double-double on 43 points and 14 rebounds. The match was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Elias Samady was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Sage Creek's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-2. As for Canyon Crest Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sage Creek will square off against Scripps Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Scripps Ranch will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Canyon Crest Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th.
