Jada Williams of
La Jolla Country Day (La Jolla, Calif.), the No. 5 guard in the Class of 2023 according to ESPN's Hoopgurlz, has switched her college commitment from UCLA to the University of Arizona. The move allows her to join fellow 2023 Torreys teammate
Breya Cunningham in Tucson.
Williams also joins 2022 five-star guard
Paris Clark of
Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) to decommit from UCLA in favor of Adia Barnes and the Wildcats.
In 2021-22 with La Jolla Country Day, Williams averaged 11.4 points, 4.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds as the Torreys went 23-5 before falling 63-62 to Sierra Canyon in the Southern California Open Division regional semifinals. La Jolla Country Day finished No. 9 in the MaxPreps Top 25 girls basketball rankings last season.
Williams transferred to La Jolla Country Day after two seasons at Blue Springs (Mo.) where she averaged nearly 20 points as a sophomore for the 16-6 Wildcats.
In addition to Cunningham,
Montaya Dew of
Centennial (Las Vegas), the No. 9 player from the Class of 2023, also will play for Barnes, who led the Wildcats to the championship game of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Arizona also has three other top 100 players from the Class of 2022 in McDonald's All American
Maya Nnaji along with
Kailyn Gilbert and Canadian Lemyah Hylton.
