With a playoff win on the line, Hunt rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Croatan Cougars 32-29. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading Hunt to victory were Doryan Jones and Mez Harris. Jones rushed for 162 yards and one TD while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, while Harris rushed for 118 yards on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards Harris has posted since back in September.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hunt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Boucher, who rushed for 178 yards, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Kannon McBride did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and two extra points.
Hunt's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Croatan, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Hunt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-7 victory against Northside - Jacksonville on the 4th. Croatan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
