The Villages Charter Buffalo will face off against the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Villages Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for The Villages Charter after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Lecanto by a score of 9-8. The Buffalo have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Torin Foley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chase Dasher, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Even though they lost, The Villages Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lecanto only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Seven Rivers Christian came into Thursday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let Gulf get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Thursday. The Warriors not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 11th.
Not much got past Mason Hogue, who gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Gulf off the board. Hogue has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Seven Rivers Christian let Noah Lemar and Timothy Nott run wild. Lemar scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Nott scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Nott also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
The Villages Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Seven Rivers Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. The Villages Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .525. However, it's not like Seven Rivers Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went The Villages Charter's way against Seven Rivers Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, as The Villages Charter made off with an 18-8 win.
