The Rochester Zebras will square off against the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rochester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Rochester barely beat Maconaquah the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Zebras' pitcher stepped up to hand the Braves a 12-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Zebras in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won five in a row.
Parker Casper was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Tanner Reinartz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Rochester hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Tippecanoe Valley came up short against Knox on Friday, falling 16-6.
Weston Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Parker Adamson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Tippecanoe Valley's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Rochester, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Tippecanoe Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rochester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Tippecanoe Valley, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Rochester's hitters?
Everything went Rochester's way against Tippecanoe Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Rochester made off with a 13-0 win. Will the Zebras repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
