Basketball Recap: Omaha Central Comes Up Short

Omaha Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln North Star Navigators. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Navigators are ranked 20th).

Omaha Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Noelle Tcheuhchoua, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Justine Tcheuhchoua, who went 9 of 16 en route to 18 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Justine a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aalaiya Davis, who posted five points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Omaha Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Omaha Central now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Lincoln North Star, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Omaha Central will host Omaha Northwest on Friday. Omaha Central is facing Omaha Northwest at the right time seeing as Omaha Northwest is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lincoln North Star, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bellevue West at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bellevue West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season.
