In what's become a running theme this season, the Plateau Valley Cowboys gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They really took it to De Beque for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-25 win on the road. Plateau Valley pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons had little chance of recovering from.
Plateau Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Meloni Miller led the charge by scoring 21 points along with six steals. Miller is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emaline Ealey, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
De Beque lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ava Vines, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Graham, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
De Beque struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Plateau Valley pulled down 25 offensive rebounds.
Plateau Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for De Beque, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plateau Valley will take on the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully West Grand focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for De Beque, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Rangely is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.
