Softball Recap: Captain Shreve Victorious

After losing to Florien the last time they met, Captain Shreve decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Captain Shreve narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Florien 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Ella Hendrick was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Hendrick was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Aubry Townsend was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Kennedi Dixon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Captain Shreve's record now sits at 14-10. As for Florien, they dropped their record down to 7-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Captain Shreve will host Castor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Florien, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Montgomery at 5:00 p.m.
