Baseball Recap: Continental Takes a Loss

Continental lost against Ayersville back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pirates lost 14-4 to the Pilots.

Rhettik Bowers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Continental is 2-1 when Bowers posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Jayden Pitney was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Continental has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Ayersville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Continental will challenge Ottoville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates are facing the Big Green at the right time seeing as the Big Green are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Ayersville, they will head out to face off against Elida at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Pilots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
