The West Columbus Vikings were the 47-43 winner over the St. Pauls Bulldogs when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. West Columbus fell just short of St. Pauls by a score of 54-52.
West Columbus' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Unique Kelly , who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Tristian Tubbs who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Larry Graham was another key contributor, scoring five points.
St. Pauls found their leader in underclassman Tyson Thompson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Thompson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir McMillan, who scored seven points.
West Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Pauls, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
West Columbus will head out on the road to face off against Heide Trask at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heide Trask knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully West Columbus likes a good challenge.
