The Jefferson Area Falcons were the 39-21 winner over the Conneaut Spartans when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Jefferson Area fell 55-48 to the Spartans on Saturday. Jefferson Area has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Jefferson Area lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mia Contenza. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Contenza has scored all season. Tatum Bordeaux was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Isabella Fix was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 17 rebounds for Conneaut. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Kennedy, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Jefferson Area dropped their record down to 8-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Conneaut, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson Area will take on the Warriors at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Edgewood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Falcons in Ohio (the Warriors are ranked 84th, while the Falcons are ranked 449th). As for Conneaut, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Blue Streaks at 1:15 p.m.
