The Harford Tech Cobras lost against the Fallston Cougars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Harford Tech took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fallston. While losing is never fun, Harford Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Fallston is ranked 47th).
Harford Tech lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sophia Mace, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mace has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Castro, who scored nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Fallston was led to victory by Natalie Wirth and Ayla Galloway. Wirth dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Galloway dropped a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Galloway has scored at least a third of Fallston's points. Another player making a difference was Maddy Burns, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Harford Tech has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Fallston, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Harford Tech won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Elkton at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Fallston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Carroll at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Fallston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Monday.
