The Ellicott Thunderhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Florence Huskies at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ellicott is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Thursday, Ellicott came up short against La Junta and fell 50-40.
Meanwhile, Florence's five-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They took down Colorado Springs Christian 59-43. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 7 on the offensive boards, as Florence did.
It was another big night for Gage Goodall, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Gunnar Phillips was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Ellicott's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Florence, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9.
Everything came up roses for Ellicott against Florence in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 78-36 win. With Ellicott ahead 41-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
